Abstract

Proverbs are a fundamental aspect of human communication, reflecting the values, beliefs, and traditions of a society. This article explores the cultural aspects of English and Uzbek proverbs, examining how they capture and convey the collective wisdom of their respective cultures. By analyzing proverbs from both languages, the study reveals key differences in the way English and Uzbek cultures emphasize themes such as individualism, community, nature, work, moral lessons, humor, religious influences, gender roles, and views on fate and destiny. The article concludes that while English proverbs often highlight individual responsibility and self-reliance, Uzbek proverbs emphasize communal values, respect for elders, and acceptance of destiny. This comparative analysis provides insights into how proverbs serve as vehicles of cultural expression, preserving and transmitting values across generations.
