The communication barrier is a fundamental challenge in teaching foreign languages, impeding learners' ability to engage in meaningful conversations. This article delves into the root causes of this barrier, focusing on native language interference, the lack of real-life communication opportunities, and cultural differences that hinder pragmatic competence. The psychological aspects of language learning, such as lack of motivation and confidence, further exacerbate the issue. Traditional teaching methods emphasizing grammar over communicative skills often leave students ill-prepared for real-world interactions. The article suggests various strategies to overcome these barriers, including integrating culture into language lessons, creating authentic communication opportunities, leveraging technology, and fostering a supportive learning environment. By addressing both linguistic and psychological factors, educators can better equip students to overcome the communication barrier and achieve fluency.
