Abstract

Water and fire are fundamental elements in many cultures, not only as physical phenomena but also as metaphors representing a range of human experiences. This article examines how water and fire are linguistically represented across languages and cultures, focusing on their roles in metaphor, idioms, and symbolic meanings. By analyzing these elements through a comparative lens, the study aims to uncover common linguistic patterns and cultural variances in their symbolic use. The findings suggest that while water and fire are universal metaphors for emotions, states of being, and existential concepts, their linguistic representation often reflects deeper cultural attitudes toward nature, conflict, and human identity.
