Abstract

Shakespeare's "Othello" remains a compelling tragedy due to its exploration of universal themes like jealousy, manipulation, and racial prejudice. This paper examines the play's enduring power through an analysis of its figurative language, specifically metaphors, similes, and imagery. By focusing on key examples, such as the "green-eyed monster" metaphor and the use of light and darkness imagery, this study demonstrates how Shakespeare's language amplifies the play's emotional depth and thematic complexity. Furthermore, it addresses the challenges and considerations involved in translating these literary devices, particularly into languages like Uzbek, highlighting the importance of cultural context in preserving the play's intended impact. Ultimately, this analysis underscores "Othello's" continued relevance as a timeless masterpiece that provokes critical reflection on the complexities of the human condition.
