Abstract

South Korea's education system is renowned for its rigorous approach and high achievements in various academic fields. However, the teaching and learning of foreign languages, particularly English, have faced criticism for their heavy focus on rote memorization and lack of emphasis on communicative competence. This paper explores strategies for improving the quality of foreign language education in South Korea, grounded in the national education system's framework. By integrating innovative pedagogical methods, revising curriculum standards, enhancing teacher training, and leveraging technology, this study aims to propose a comprehensive plan to elevate South Korea's foreign language education to meet global communication demands.
