Abstract

The curiosity and self-assurance our pupils bring to the classroom are just two of the reasons why we believe all pupils should be exposed to specialist modern language learning at an early age. In this article, we look at the ways in which different types of communication games can be used to teach foreign languages to young learners at primary level – regardless of the language they have as their first language or the level at which the teacher has achieved in their own language development. Young children are very imaginative, and they learn more if they enjoy what they are doing. Therefore, communication games for young learners are seen as one of the most effective ways to learn a foreign language.
